Toyota Avalon Oil Problems

The Toyota Avalon is the full sized sedan offered by the company in North America. In this article, we take a look at Toyota Avalon oil problems.

The name Toyota is synonymous with quality. Okay, the brand has taken a bit of a beating in recent years. The problem in the view of many is Toyota expanded to quickly and lost the eye of the tiger when it came to quality. As a result, many of its offering from 2005 through 2008 were found to be very American like, which is to say they had all types of quality problems.

The Toyota Avalon certainly was no exception when it came to quality issues. The car suffered a host of issues. They ranged from soft suspensions to air bag problems. Heck, there were even complaints about how the moon roof made a knocking noise when in use. Most of these problems, however, were minor. Toyota Avalon oil problems obviously were not.

The Toyota Avalon models from 2005 through 2008 have had oil problems that are very dramatic. Image going to the grocery store and coming out to find a huge pool of oil under your car. This is exactly what was happening with these Avalon models. The problem was particularly bad because no warning light comes on when this failure occurs. This means you could seize up the engine once the oil is out and it has definitely happened on more than one occasion.

So, what is the exact problem? The issue is the performance of something known as the oil line. As the name suggests, the line moves the oil around the engine compartment. The particular line is known as the VVT oil line. The particular version used in the Avalon during these years would just suddenly fail. Since it was the main transport for the fluid, the oil would drain out of the car incredibly quickly.

While Toyota has never issued a recall, it has acknowledge there is a problem and recommended the replacement of the oil line. How much will that cost you? Try in the $400 range. When it comes to Toyota Avalon oil problems, the repair is costly but cheaper than a new engine!
