Tesla Motors has started producing and selling its revolutionary electric sports car. Now it is going one better. Yes, the company will do house calls on its cars!

The Tesla Motors cars are revolutionary. Most hybrids and electric cars are...how shall we say this - a tad boring. Not the Tesla sports cars. These babies look like Ferraris are and jut about as fast while being all electric. Viva la green revolution!

Regardless, the current production line is small and that causes problems for buyers. What problem? Well, what about when it comes time to service the cars? It's not like you can drive over to the local tune up shop. They wouldn't know where to begin! Tesla now has an answer for this - the company will send technicians to you!

So, what is the Tesla house call all about? Well, the company will send technicians to your home if you own one of these cars to do annual maintenance, software upgrades and the like. The company only has four dealers in the country as of the writing of this article, but has stated it will send technicians hundreds of miles if necessary. With dealerships only in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle and Menlo Park, that could be a massive trip. Imagine a technician driving out to New Orleans to service a car!

Is there any downside to the house call? Well, sort of. Tesla is charging $1 per mile that the technician has to travel. Given the fact that the car costs $109,000, one can surmise most Tesla owners can pay the fee.
