Saab started in Sweden in the 1930s as an aeronautical company. It started developing cars in the late 1940s and hit upon a good thing. The cars became known for their reliability, unique style and performance often based on turbo charging. GM kept buying up parts of the company until it owned it fully at the end of century. Then GM imploded. With that implosion, the brand was sold back to Swedish supercar builder Koenigsegg with financing help from the Swedish government.
