It purchased the rights to the old car company and eventually released the modernized Mini Cooper in 2001. The Mini Cooper has become a huge hit as buyers looking for cars with a sense of character and culture versus the bland round cars of the day snap up the Mini models as fast as they come out. While many car companies have suffered in 2008 and 2009, Mini Cooper has not.
