Kia is a relatively new entry to the American auto market, but one that has been a hit if one takes into account the demand for Kia aftermarket performance parts and accessories.

Kia is actually the oldest South Korean car company having been formed in the 1940s. The company, however, did not enter the American market until 1994. The company launched very slowly in North America by expanding one region at a time. The launch was derailed in 1997 when the company was lost to bankruptcy in the Asian financial crisis. Kia still exists today, but is owned by Ford and Hyundai in the majority. The cars are solid, but could use sprucing up.
