I Never Used the Extended Honda Warranty

I never used the extended Honda warranty! This was a comment I recently heard at a party. So, what are we to make of this? Let's consider the options.

An extended Honda warranty does just what it says. It extends out the protection you received when you originally purchased the car. While called a warranty, it is often easier to think about it as insurance against car problems. If your transmission blows out one day, youve got the cost of repair covered. If oil starts spraying around the engine compartment, you don't have to pay for the repair. It is as simple as that.

Now, what about a situation where you don't actually end up using the extended Honda warranty? Well, there are two ways to look at it. The first is, ironically, congratulations! The fact you didn't use the extended warranty means that your car is probably in very good shape and is set to last you for many more years. Youve taken car of it and reaped the benefits.

The downside, of course, is you paid money for an extended warranty on your Honda and didn't really need to. Doesn't this just constitute a waste of money? Yes and no. The extended warranty is designed to cover any problems that MIGHT occur. There is no guarantee that they will occur anymore than the fact you have fire insurance on your home means the house will definitely burn down.

Can I get my premiums back? Do I really need to answer this? The answer is clearly that you cannot unless you had some pre-existing deal that states as much in writing. I'm pretty sure nobody has such an agreement.
